Protocol Fees
Odos is committed to providing transparent, efficient, and scalable solutions for DeFi trading and integration. Protocol fees are a key part of how Odos sustains its ecosystem while delivering value to users and partners. This page outlines how fees are structured and applied across our platform.
What Are Protocol Fees?
Protocol fees are collected by the Odos router contracts during token swaps or other interactions with our smart contracts. These fees are used to fund:
- Ongoing development and maintenance of Odos.
- Security audits and infrastructure improvements.
- DAO treasury contributions for community-driven initiatives.
How Protocol Fees Work
Swap Fees
Odos collects different fees on swaps based on what product is used, and the conditions of the swap. On the majority of swaps currently performed on Odos there are no fees collected. However, let’s get into the details on when there are some captured:
-
Trade Surplus: When Odos secures a better price than quoted, the additional value is captured by the protocol as revenue. This happens very infrequently, but over many transactions and a significant amount of volume, this small revenue stream helps us continue to build Odos.
-
Simple Swap: When using Simple Swap Odos makes a conservative estimation of potential slippage that may occur on a swap and collects this as revenue. The estimate for volatile tokens is 0.25% while the estimate for stable tokens and wrapping tokens is 0.05%. This revenue allows us to provide additional value to Simple Swap users by absorbing any potential negative slippage that might occur. This is distinctly different from using Advanced Swap where users may experience negative slippage as is common in DeFi. By protecting users from negative slippage and setting slippage tolerances automatically we can provide users guaranteed quotes. -
Limit Orders: Limit Orders make an estimate of the expected gas to execute the transaction, and in cases where there may be surplus after the execution, Odos collects this surplus as revenue. This is more analogous to how Advanced swaps collect positive slippage, though is not entirely the same. To see the full list of benefits for Simple Swap check out the product guide here.
-
Multi-Swap Advanced Swaps: We will be updating with our Smart Order Router v3 to remove the flat fee on Multi-Token trades on Advanced Swap and will instead collect only positive slippage. While we have not transitioned to our v3 yet, Multi-Token Swaps on Advanced Swap will continue to collect a flat fee of 0.01% of the output tokens. This is not denominated in any given currency, this is simply 0.01% of the quantity of output tokens from the trade.
Partner Code Revenue
Odos offers partners a simple, permissionless way to monetize user volume. By registering a fee on a partner code, Odos automatically includes this fee in the quote, collects it in output tokens from the user, and sends it to the specified beneficiary address for each transaction.
This fee is optional and not required. If a partner adds a fee, Odos retains 20% as a revenue share, while the remaining 80% is sent to the partner.
You can review more details on Partner Codes here.
API Plans
Odos currently offers a Free API. An enterprise-grade API is in beta for select partners—reach out via Discord to learn more.
